NSJF Pulsar Sports Award Unveiled in Pokhara

The 22nd Edition of the NSJF Pulsar Sports Award to be Held in Pokhara

The 22nd edition of the NSJF Pulsar Sports Award is set to take place in Pokhara on September 14. This marks a significant milestone as it will be the first time the event is held outside the Kathmandu Valley. The announcement was made during a press conference in Kathmandu, where organizers and sponsors highlighted the importance of this shift.

The Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF), the organizing body of the award, has been collaborating with Golchha Group, the official distributor of Pulsar motorcycles in Nepal, for several years. At the recent event, both parties signed a new five-year agreement, reinforcing their long-standing partnership. Niranjan Adhikari, president of NSJF, and Abhimanyu Golchha, director of Golchha Group, were present at the signing ceremony.

Adhikari emphasized the significance of the collaboration, stating that Bajaj Pulsar, through Golchha Group, has been the main sponsor of the award for the past 17 years. He added that the five-year agreement further strengthens their relationship.

This year’s awards will feature ten categories, including:

Anjan Khadka, general secretary of NSJF, mentioned that nominations for the People’s Choice Award, decided by public voting, and other key categories—such as the best male player, female player, youth player, and coach—will be announced soon.

Winners in five major categories—Male, Female, Youth, Coach, and People’s Choice—will each receive a Pulsar motorcycle. Other recipients will be awarded cash prizes of Rs100,000 each.

With the exception of the Lifetime Achievement and Asian Sports Journalist awards, all other categories will recognize athletes and coaches based on their performances and achievements between April 13, 2024, and April 13, 2025.

Golchha expressed that the total support for the 22nd edition will amount to Rs4 million, which includes five motorcycles. This represents a 33 percent increase compared to the previous year. He also highlighted the mutual trust and commitment between NSJF and Golchha Group over the past 17 years, expressing plans to continue increasing support annually.

Both NSJF and Golchha Group are excited about the decision to host the event in Pokhara, known as the tourism capital of Nepal. Golchha described Pokhara as a place that embodies movement, youth, and passion, drawing parallels between the city’s spirit and the ethos of Pulsar.

He emphasized that Pulsar has always aimed to be at the forefront of sports-related events, whether at the grassroots or national level. Adhikari, who was elected as NSJF president on May 8, noted that the organization had long planned to take the award outside Kathmandu. He expressed pride in finally making this dream a reality.

Adhikari explained that while several cities were considered, Pokhara Metropolitan City emerged as the most suitable choice. He also mentioned that Pokhara, as the tourism capital of Nepal, aims to include this event as part of the Pokhara Visit Year 2025.
