Upgrade My Health Records: Vaccination Info Inquiry Service

Enhanced Vaccination Information Service Now Available

From today, the upgraded vaccination information inquiry service is now accessible through the ‘My Health Record’ app. This update enhances the user experience by making it easier to check the ‘future vaccination schedule,’ which was previously available but less streamlined. The Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have announced that this improved service will be available starting July 28.

The ‘Health Information Expressway,’ launched in September 2023, serves as a relay platform that consolidates individual health care information scattered across various public and medical institutions. This allows users to easily access, store, and transmit their health data wherever they need it. By downloading the ‘My Health Record’ app on their smartphones, individuals can conveniently use a wide range of services provided by the platform.

Key Features of the Updated App

One of the notable features of the updated app includes the ability to check essential vaccination items and periods included in the children’s national vaccination project. Additionally, the app provides information on influenza vaccination and COVID-19 vaccination for senior citizens aged 65 or older. These updates ensure that users have access to critical health-related information tailored to different age groups.

Previously, parents could view medical information of children under the age of 14 through the app. However, with the recent improvements, the scope of access has been expanded to include all underage children. This means that parents can now conveniently check their children’s medical information at any time if they register their children under the age of 19 in the same residence as their parents on the ‘My Health Record’ app.

Through this enhanced service, parents can access their children’s medical history, drug prescriptions, health examination results, and vaccination history all in one place. This feature not only simplifies the process of managing children’s health records but also ensures that parents are well-informed about their children’s medical needs.

Expert Insight on the Update

Shin Hyun-doo, head of the medical information policy division at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, expressed optimism about the benefits of the app’s improvement. He stated, “I expect that the improvement of the app function will make vaccination management and child health management more convenient for the people.” This sentiment reflects the broader goal of the Ministry to enhance public health services through technological advancements.
