McLaren W15 V10 Supercar Unveiled at 2025 Goodwood Festival

McLaren’s Legacy and Innovation Shines at Goodwood Speed Festival

McLaren Automotive has once again demonstrated its exceptional prowess in both road-driving models and motorsports, showcasing its commitment to excellence under the theme of “Champions and Challengers” at this month’s Goodwood Speed Festival. The event serves as a platform for the brand to highlight its rich heritage and forward-thinking innovations.

One of the standout attractions at the festival is the McLaren W1, which is now open to the public for the first time at the center of the McLaren House. Known for its explosive performance, immersive design, and deep connection with the driver, the W1 delivers an unforgettable experience on both the road and the track. A total of 399 units were produced, all of which have been allocated to customers.

The W1 features a powerful 1,275-horsepower V8 hybrid powertrain that drives the rear wheels. As the third model in McLaren’s original “1” series lineup, it incorporates innovative active aerodynamic technology, including F1-inspired ground-effect systems. At the Goodwood Festival, the W1 will be displayed alongside the legendary McLaren F1 and McLaren P1™, highlighting the shared DNA across three iconic models from different eras. This display also underscores McLaren’s long-standing tradition of pushing boundaries and breaking conventions.

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of their first Le Mans victory, McLaren has introduced two special programs at the 2025 Goodwood Speed Festival. One of these is the F1 GTR, which triumphed in the legendary endurance race. Recently returned from the exhibition “McLaren: A Name for Eternity” at the Le Mans Museum, the F1 GTR will make a rare appearance at the festival. JJ Lehto, one of the drivers who secured the win, will personally drive the #59 vehicle during the Goodwood Hillclimb.

Another notable model is the newly launched 750S Le Mans, which pays homage to the 1995 Le Mans victory. Released in June, this limited-edition supercar will be showcased to customers and fans visiting the McLaren House during the festival. Only 50 units will be produced worldwide, each equipped with a high-downforce kit from McLaren Special Operations (MSO) designed to maximize circuit performance. The 750S Le Mans is a tribute to the McLaren F1 LM, a rare road car created to celebrate the legendary Le Mans victory.

Over the past two years, McLaren has captivated audiences at the Goodwood Speed Festival with the track-only Solus GT. This single-seat Hyper GT features an 840-horsepower naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine and weighs just under 1,000kg. In 2023, the Solus GT made history by winning the timed Shootout Final, thrilling the crowd with its speed and sound. Last year, it returned to the Goodwood Hillclimb, with a customer vehicle driven by Mika Häkkinen, a two-time F1 world champion, customized in the same color as his 1998 championship-winning MP4/13. This year, McLaren will showcase customer vehicles of the Solus GT, highlighting the possibilities of MSO’s custom-tailored craftsmanship.

The 750S and Atura MCL38 Celebration Edition Supercars are also making an appearance at the festival. These models were unveiled shortly after the McLaren Formula 1 team secured the 2024 F1 World Constructor Championship. Each model is produced in limited quantities, with only nine units per model. The Celebration Edition features a special livery designed by MSO, incorporating papaya orange and anthology colors that symbolize McLaren’s legacy in motorsports.

In addition, McLaren is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the “LT” series, known for its intense performance. The “Celebrate LT” campaign, launched in March, has brought together LT owners through global community events. LT models from the McLaren Heritage Collection will be displayed at the Goodwood Supercar Paddock and will participate in dynamic driving performances.

While the focus of the festival remains on McLaren’s achievements in motorsports and automotive innovation, several unrelated news stories have surfaced, reflecting diverse societal issues. These include personal confessions, tragic incidents, and legal developments, underscoring the complexity of human experiences beyond the realm of high-performance cars.
