Concord Access Unveils Advanced Scissor Lifts

Innovations in Scissor Lift Technology

Concord Access Solutions, a leading South African equipment supplier, has introduced its Genie Next-Gen slab scissor lift range to the African market. The company claims that this new line of lifts represents significant advancements in design, performance, and efficiency. These improvements are set to redefine expectations for electric slab scissor lifts across the region.

The newly launched models—GS-1932, GS-2646, GS-3246, and GS-4046—are equipped with features that offer up to 30% more runtime compared to previous versions. Additionally, they feature 70% fewer hydraulic hoses and fittings, which not only reduces maintenance but also improves reliability. The company also highlights that these models can lead to up to 35% savings in maintenance costs, making them a cost-effective solution for various industries.

Key Upgrades and Technological Enhancements

Marcus Gartside, Sales Manager at Concord Access Solutions (CAS), emphasized that these lifts mark a major milestone in the evolution of electric slab scissor lifts. He noted that while internal technological improvements have been ongoing, the external design of such lifts has remained largely unchanged. This new range breaks that trend by aligning the exterior design with the advanced engineering inside.

One of the most notable upgrades is the shift from hydraulic to DC electric drive motors, while retaining energy-efficient AC drive motors from the E-Drive range. This combination ensures better performance and lower energy consumption. The redesigned lifts also feature a curved linkage structure that enhances strength while reducing weight. This innovation allows for the use of more affordable components such as batteries and motors, further improving cost-efficiency.

Another significant improvement is the inclusion of maintenance-free Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) batteries as standard. For customers requiring even more durability and environmental friendliness, lithium-ion battery options are available. A special oil-free version of the GS-1932, named the E-Lift, is designed for sensitive environments such as food manufacturing, where cleanliness and safety are paramount.

Design and Functional Improvements

Gartside explained that the previous models retained a traditional, boxy design that did not reflect the internal innovations developed by the engineering team. The Next-Gen range addresses this by bringing the exterior design in line with the internal advancements. This modernized look not only enhances aesthetics but also improves usability and functionality.

Other key improvements include a reinforced platform and extension deck to reduce flex, ensuring stability during operation. The new modular platform controls are compliant with ISO21455 standards, offering enhanced safety and control. Additional upgrades include recessed decals, a rugged manual box, and reinforced forklift pockets, all contributing to a more durable and user-friendly design.

“These enhancements are all designed to make this Next-Gen range of scissor lifts a true all-round performer that raises the industry bar once again,” Gartside said.

Expanding Reach and Industry Applications

Previously operating under the name Goscor Access Solutions until February 2024, CAS now manages a fleet of over 1,000 units. These units cover working heights ranging from six to 57 meters, serving a wide geographic footprint that includes countries such as Nigeria, Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, and the broader Southern African Development Community region. The company offers both sales and rental services, catering to diverse customer needs.

The latest design improvements make the Next-Gen range particularly well-suited for industries such as manufacturing, maintenance, construction, cleaning, painting, warehousing, hospitals, data centers, and hospitality. With its focus on performance, efficiency, and adaptability, the Genie Next-Gen slab scissor lift range is poised to become a preferred choice for businesses across Africa.
