Jung Il-woo Shares His Journey to Better Health

Actor Jung Il-woo recently opened up about his dedication to improving his health following a challenging period in his life. In a video titled “Ilwoo’s Unspeakable Health… (Feat. Jung Il-woo, Choi Han-jin)” posted on the channel ‘Kim Jong-guk GYM JONG KOOK’, he discussed his journey and how he is working towards a healthier lifestyle.

Before meeting with Jung Il-woo, Kim Jong-guk mentioned that the actor had faced a significant accident after his debut. He noted, “I guess it’s a little hard to do high-weight exercises because my blood pressure shouldn’t rise.” This reference was to a car accident in 2006 that led to a brain aneurysm diagnosis. A brain aneurysm occurs when a blood vessel swells like a balloon and can be life-threatening if it bursts, causing a cerebral hemorrhage. Jung Il-woo admitted to suffering from depression during this time, saying, “I was very scared and nervous because I didn’t know when I would die because it was a time bomb-like disease.”

After some time, Jung Il-woo arrived at the gym, where he shared his current projects. He said, “I’m doing a drama this time. I contacted my brother and said I wanted to work out because I like working out these days.” When asked about his recent activities, he replied, “In fact, after going through a period of wandering, I felt that I should work properly with my mind. I also did a play last year.”

Kim Jong-guk expressed concern for Jung Il-woo’s health again, stating, “I think I can motivate many people (in similar situations).” In response, Jung Il-woo explained, “As I was sick, I thought about how to live a healthy life, but there was no answer except exercise.” He added that he manages his diet every day, wondering how to make it both delicious and healthy. He also makes protein shakes and consumes them regularly.

Jung Il-woo also spoke about the aftermath of his traffic accident. He revealed, “My wrist was crushed and I had arthritis,” prompting Kim Jong-guk to recommend wearing a protective band.

Looking ahead, Jung Il-woo is set to appear in the KBS2 drama “The Brilliant Days,” which will premiere on August 9.
