Martin Sets Target for Remainder of 2025 MotoGP Season with Aprilia

A Journey of Resilience and Renewal

Jorge Martin has completed his 2024 MotoGP season with a podium finish in the season finale in Barcelona, marking the culmination of a year filled with challenges and triumphs. The Spanish rider secured the world title, but the path to this achievement was anything but straightforward.

From the time he last crossed the finish line until the Czech Republic GP, more than eight months passed without Martin seeing a chequered flag. During this period, he transitioned from Pramac to Aprilia and endured three serious injuries that kept him out of competition for 245 days. This extended absence tested both his physical and mental strength, making the journey back to racing an arduous one.

Despite the setbacks, Martin made a bold decision to leave Aprilia early, a move that reflected his frustration with the situation. However, after recovering fully, he found a renewed sense of purpose and joy during the Brno weekend, where he managed to complete the event without any issues.

The emotional toll of the past months was evident as Martin described the tension and unpredictability of the race weekend. He admitted to crying before the race, overwhelmed by the challenges he had faced. But with the support of his family and the team, he found the strength to push forward.

In the days following the race, the atmosphere in the garage began to ease. Martin emphasized the importance of building a strong team and family dynamic with Aprilia. He expressed confidence in the project and the belief that the potential for success is immense.

Massimo Rivola, CEO of Aprilia, is optimistic about Martin’s future with the team. He believes that Martin could be competing for podium finishes within two or three races and has the potential to secure a victory in 2025.

Martin, however, is taking a measured approach. His immediate goal is to close the gap to his teammate Marco Bezzecchi, who has become a key figure at Aprilia. He acknowledges Bezzecchi’s strong performances and aims to reduce the difference between them before focusing on winning races.

“I just need to reduce the gap to him and then I’ll be fighting for victories,” Martin said. “I feel I made the right decision. We’ll never know for sure, but I’m happy with where I am now.”

Martin also highlighted the improvements in the bike compared to the one he used in Qatar, where he suffered another injury. He mentioned changes that have helped him ride more smoothly and better suit his style. While he is still a few tenths off the pace, he remains confident in his ability to improve over the remaining 10 races of the season.

“I don’t want to think about results,” he said. “But yes, I’ve got three or four races marked on the calendar. Right now, the goal is there – I think we can fight for at least one podium. The goal is to finish the year on the podium and be ready to face 2026.”

As Martin looks ahead, he is focused on continuous improvement and growth. His determination and resilience have brought him back to the track, and with each race, he is steadily working towards his ultimate goal of achieving success in the coming seasons.
