These Stunning BMW Cruiser Bikes Are Almost Too Beautiful to Ride

A New Era for Custom Cruisers

When it comes to custom cruisers, the name BMW is often overlooked in favor of American legends like Harley-Davidson and Indian. These iconic brands have long dominated the market with their relaxed silhouettes and extensive range of chrome accessories. However, BMW’s R 12 and R 18 are challenging that perception. These boxer engines are designed to be customized right from the showroom floor, offering a fresh perspective on what a cruiser can be.

At the BMW Motorrad Days 2025 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the German custom workshop WOIDWERK took this idea to the next level. Led by Ralf Eggl, the team unveiled “The Speed Sisters,” a unique pairing of the R 12 and R 18 that showcases the potential of these bikes while staying true to their BMW heritage. Each bike has its own distinct character, yet they share a cohesive design language that highlights their individuality.

The R 12: Sportier and More Agile

The R 12 takes on a more dynamic role as the sportier of the two. It is lighter, sharper, and more compact, making it ideal for those who want a ride that’s both agile and powerful. WOIDWERK raised the chassis by 15mm, giving it a more aggressive stance. The tail was chopped in a classic bobber style, and the riding posture was adjusted to be more forward-leaning.

To complete the look, the bike features a handmade Alcantara seat, a custom 3D-printed tank cover, and black ceramic-coated exhaust from Hattech. The overall effect is clean, punchy, and full of attitude. Every detail adds to the bike’s personality, making it a standout in any crowd.

The R 18: Power with Style

In contrast, the R 18 embraces its power with a more athletic stance. The tank was raised and narrowed by 30mm, giving it a more dynamic profile. A floating solo seat and a custom rear hoop reshape the silhouette, while a 20mm lift and upgraded 320mm front discs with radial calipers add real-world performance.

Most of the visible components were CNC-milled or 3D-printed in-house, resulting in a cohesive, hand-crafted feel. This attention to detail ensures that every element of the bike works together seamlessly, creating a stunning visual and mechanical experience.

A Playful Paint Scheme

Both bikes feature a playful paint scheme that reflects their Bavarian roots. The 3/4 white and 1/4 green motif is a nod to the long, snowy winters of the region. This detail ties everything together, serving as a subtle reminder that bikes can be both art and artifact. It adds a personal touch that makes the bikes even more special.
