Seeing as Lupita Nyong’o isn’t nominated for any awards at this year’s Oscars, she must have kept in mind that she wouldn’t be bringing home any hardware—because she brought her own. She stepped onto the red carpet absolutely dripping in pearls, which appear in her hair, hanging from her ears, on her gown, and glued to her nails.
The one-time Best Supporting Actress winner (for her role in 2014’s 12 Years a Slave) worked pearls into her ‘fit almost everywhere possible. We’ll take it from the top: Her hairstylist wove individual pearls into a wide bun, creating a look that’s even more stunning from the side. Then there are the drop earrings, which look to be made up of a mix of pearls and diamonds. Then there’s the gown, a custom Chanel number that her stylist, Micaela Erlanger, requested based on a ’90s-era runway photo of Linda Evangelista.

The pièce de résistance is Nyong’o’s manicure, which takes a classic soft pink look and ratchets it up to eleven thanks to the addition of a tiny pearl on the tip of each nail. She’s even wearing a pearl-encrusted ring. Taken together, the entire outfit is proof that matchy-matchy doesn’t have to be boring.

The look is also a nod to her all-pearl 2015 Oscars dress, which made headlines after it was allegedly stolen from her West Hollywood hotel room shortly after the ceremony. The $150,000 Calvin Klein gown and its 6,000 pearls were eventually recovered. Lupita, don’t let this year’s gorgeous gown out of your sight.
